Meet Slink!

Slink is cute as a button, with a personality far bigger than her little legs would suggest. Like many dachshunds, she's incredibly loyal, a little stubborn, and never shy about sharing her opinion.

Slink loves spending time outdoors, enjoying short walks and relaxing at home in a sunny spot, watching the world go by. She also takes her self-appointed role as pint-sized security officer very seriously. Property patrols are her strong suit, and a job she's incredibly chuffed about!

When it comes to meeting new people, Slink likes to take her time. She is naturally cautious and will thrive with patient, experienced people who are happy to move at her pace, give her space, and allow her build back her confidence. Once you've earned her trust, however, you'll have a devoted companion for life. She'll happily follow you everywhere, and we do mean everywhere!

Slink is crate trained and sleeps soundly in her crate overnight, although her absolute favourite place is curled up beside you on the couch.

Having experienced some significant changes in her life, Slink will need a patient family or individual who understands that building trust takes time. Her adjustment into foster care was challenging, and having strategies in place for day 1 helps with the transition. Once settled, she can manage periods alone when she has another dog for company, but long days without a companion may be a stretch (pardon the dachshund pun!).

She's a clever girl who learns quickly once settled into a routine. Food is a great motivator, and she's always happy to work hard for a tasty treat. Slink is also fully toilet trained.

While Slink isn't particularly interested in playtime, she coexists well with other dogs. She tolerates her foster brother but isn't afraid to let him know when he's getting a little out of line. She's quite the canine behaviourists! She could happily live as an only dog or alongside a calm, confident canine.

Slink would thrive in a home that offers:
- A household with no children under 12 years of age
- A confident, dog-savvy calm dog companion (optional, but welcomed)
- Someone who is home most of the time while she settles in and adjusts
- Gentle exercise and plenty of opportunities for lounging on the couch
- Patience, understanding, and extra support during her transition into a new home
- An appreciation of the unique needs of dachshunds and a commitment to helping her remain safe, secure, and healthy

Slink is desexed, microchipped, up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatments.
