Hi, I’m Buddy!

I may be 13, but don’t tell me that. I still get the zoomies and have a serious cuddle addiction. My foster fam says I’ve got the energy of a dog half my age when playing. I’m just as happy to chill beside you and soak up some quiet time too.

Six years ago, I was adopted and for a while, life was good but as life changes, I’m now ready to find furever and ever family. One that will let me spend my golden years exactly how I’ve always wanted: surrounded by kindness, cuddles, and the people I adore most.

I recently had surgery to remove a tonsil polyp, and I’m happy to report I’m back to my bouncy, tail-wagging self! These days, I’m loving the good life: soft sofas, warm laps, and this thing called Netflix (huge fan). My foster mum works from home, and I take my role as “office supervisor” very seriously. I like to stay close, so she always knows she’s doing a good job and so I don’t miss any cuddles.

Sometimes I get a little too excited when I see other dogs while I’m on the leash - okay, fine...I might bark at them. It’s not because I’m mean, I just get nervous and don’t know how to handle my big feelings. We’re working on it and I’m getting better. My forever family will need to continue on this training with me. I know the command “no, walk on”, and it helps me stay calm and keep moving like the good boy I am. A calm neighbourhood walk suits me best while I keep practising my skills. Once I know another dog and feel safe, I’ll be their bestest friend. My foster sister is actually my BFF, we love playing together every day. I’ve also lived with kids before and get along great, as long as they’re gentle and kind. I’m also crate trained and settle in nicely when it’s time for me to go to bed.

I’m mostly house-trained and let my humans know when it’s time to go out by heading to the back door. A home with easy yard access would be perfect for me. I can still have wee accidents when I’m left alone because I miss my humans and get a bit worried. I also tend to mark indoors, especially in new places. This may continue while I settle into my new home, so my new family must be prepared to assist me through this transition.

I don’t like being left alone for long stretches, I just love being around my humans too much. Having another calm dog around really helps me feel safe and relaxed when they’re away, but I’m happiest in a home where someone’s around most of the day.
I can also get a bit anxious if things feel too loud or rushed. I’m not a fan of being picked up and prefer to hop into your lap on my own terms, no lifting required! Once I’m comfy, though, I’ll happily curl up beside you for hours. I'll best be suited to a home with no young children for this reason.

I’m the definition of a loyal little shadow who just loves being close to my family. What I’m really hoping for is a calm home with kind humans and a comfy couch to share. In return, I promise endless cuddles, unconditional love and a tail that never stops wagging.

Love,
Buddy
