Meet Opal!
Some kittens quietly steal your heart and Opal is no exception!
Opal is a gentle, sweet-natured girl with a calm presence that makes everyone around her feel at ease. Opal enjoys a good play session with her toys but is just as happy curling up beside you once the excitement is over. Affectionate without being clingy, she's wonderfully independent while still loving the company of her people. Whether you're working from home, relaxing on the couch, or enjoying a quiet afternoon, Opal is content simply being by your side. She has been raised with other kittens, has lived comfortably alongside dogs, and has met adult cats with lovely manners, making her a suitable gal for a diverse range of homes.
Opal also has a special journey behind her. After being rescued alongside 16 other kittens, it was discovered that there is an issue with her right front leg. Since then, she has undergone veterinary examinations and x-rays, and has been carefully assessed by our veterinary team. At this stage, Opal is happy, playful, comfortable, and uses her leg remarkably well. Because she's still growing, the decision has been made to continue monitoring her rather than rushing into major surgery.
There is a possibility that amputation may become the best long-term option as she matures, but there is no urgent need for surgery right now. Our priority is ensuring any decision is made at the right time, for the right reasons, and always with Opal's wellbeing as the focus. Opal will require a review at our Vet partner in 6 months time - should amputation become necessary, Geelong Animal Rescue will cover the full cost of the surgery.
It is extremely important Opal remains an indoor-only cat in her forever home due to her leg and for her own safety. Give her a sunny window to watch the world, a cosy bed to curl up in, a handful of toys, and someone to love, and she'll be completely happy.
Opal is desexed, microchipped, up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatments.
