Meet Shadow! Your next adventure buddy!

If you're looking for a dog who loves the outdoors, camping, hiking, swimming and all the other fun things then this is the guy for you. Shadow is the definition of dorky athlete, as he is still growing into his legs there are a plenty of laughs when you watch him zoom through life. As he is still young, he does need plenty of rest but as he gets older his energy levels are getting higher and he will require a home willing to keep up with his energy needs. Shadow is a dog's dog, he loves toys, play and having fun. He doesn't love affection and isn't much of a cuddle on the couch kind of dog. While he will happily hang out on the couch to binge watch Netflix after some fun he isn't going to climb on your lap to do so.

Shadow is a naturally cautious kind of dog, he takes a minute or two before he feels comfortable interacting with a new person, and even then, he would much prefer they didn't. He will happily play with anyone, but pats and cuddles are just not his thing. Once you've earned his trust, he is extremely loyal and will be your best mate for life. Out and about Shadow is learning that people and other dogs exist but we don't have to interact with them. In the home he is a lot more cautious when new people come over, he will bark to let you know someone is there. He does best if any new person just completely ignores him, after a minute or two he will go off and do his own thing.

This guy will give you lots of laughs, but he isn't for the faint hearted. He has high drive and loves to work, he would be a great sports dog, and I imagine he would love to do things like disc, dock diving, agility, and anything that involves having fun with his person. He loves tug and is learning how to play appropriately, he loves fetch but still doesn't quite grasp the idea that you're meant to bring the ball back, but he is getting there. His prey drive is high and for this reason he will need to stay on lead until he has 100% recall, chasing small things, especially birds is his kryptonite and you don't exist when they are around.

The ideal home for Shadow will be an adult only home, no small pets(small dogs, cats, or pocket pets), he can live with another dog, but they would need to be a large breed and fit enough to handle an excited puppy. He can also be an only pet if his people don't work extensive hours, he currently does well left alone up to 6 hours, after that he does start to get a little anxious but is improving.

Shadow needs an active home, people willing to continue building his confidence around new people but understand he won't be a dog who wants to interact with everyone he meets. He wants to be included in your adventures, go on hikes, bush walks, and camping. While he has a couple of little quirks to work through, he will make you laugh and bring fun to your household.

Shadow is crate training, about 95% toilet trained, can use a doggy door, knows some basic commands, and is learning recall. He is desexed, microchipped and up to date with vaccinations, flea, and worming treatments.
